About us

The HALO Trust is the world's oldest and largest humanitarian mine action organization with 8,500 staff in 28 countries and territories. We lead the effort to protect lives and restore livelihoods for those affected by conflict. We remove landmines and make safe other weapons such as cluster bombs, stockpiles of small arms and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Since the beginning of operations in Ukraine in early 2016, HALO has grown into the largest international mine action operator in the country. 
HALO currently employs approximately 1200 national staff across the Kyiv, Kharkiv and Mykolaiv region, conducting survey and marking of hazardous areas, risk education, and clearance operations. HALO in Ukraine is going through a period of large expansion and scaling up its operations across Ukraine, both in terms of geographical locations and staff numbers.

JOB TITLE: Communications Officer (SMM)

LOCATION: Brovary

Duties and Responsibilities

The Communications officer (SMM) will play an important role in creating content for social media, website, press releases, and other content of HALO Ukraine program. The Communication officer (SMM) will also assist to prepare reports together with the Partnerships team for project reporting.  

  • At least 3 years of professional work experience.  
  • Bachelor’s Degree or experience in SMM/Communications/Public Relations. 
  • IT Skills: Microsoft Office fluency, digital communications knowledge, i.e. Canva, Adobe Elements, and other digital platforms. 
  • The ability to coordinate and work as part of a team, in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong written English skills, Fluent in Ukrainian  
  • Previous experience working within a non-governmental organisation; 
  • Autonomous self-starter capable of working independently or as part of a team; 
  • Adaptable and flexible with the ability to prioritise competing tasks; 
  • Commitment to HALO Trust principles.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the coverage of program activities – collect different types of content – photos, video, text information.  
  • Develop content for HALO Ukraine’s social media, website, press releases, and other content. 
  • Do basic photo/video editing, create presentations, newsletters and simple data visualization. 
  • Make regular trips to the operation fields and nearby area to collect cases relating to the HALO Trust’s activities in Ukraine (personal stories of beneficiaries/mine victims/HALO staff members). 
  • Maintain and organized database of communications materials from a variety of sources.  
  • Prepare communications materials together with the Partnerships team for project reporting. 
  • Accompany of guests and partners of HALO Ukraine to minefields, assistant with the organization of visits. 

Terms and Conditions

  • Official employment.
  • Working hours: 08:00—17:00, one-hour lunch break (40 working hours per week)
  • Work schedule 5/2
  • 24 days of annual leave.
  • Daily allowance 670 UAH paid during business trips.
  • Non-contributory life insurance. Emergency medical insurance when traveling overseas, including repatriation.
  • Childcare stipend for mothers and single fathers with children aged 0-16.
  • Benefits for staff, including English classes and psychosocial support sessions.
