President’s Administration replied to Stop censorship!’s inquiry on public broadcasting concept
The deputy head of the President's Administration Hanna Herman replied to the letter of inquiry of Stop censorship! movement. The inquiry was saying, inter alia, that the draft concept of public broadcasting needed to be more explicit and some substantial precisions shall be added.
"Your letter of inquiry on public broadcasting signed by the civil movement "Stop censorship!" has been considered. We appreciate your strong sense of civic duty and we approve your initiative to hand over the bill to the Administration of the President of Ukraine which intends to launch public broadcasting in Ukraine taking per sample the prominent world standards. ... We inform you the President of Ukraine V. Yanukovich commissioned us to bring up the Public broadcasting concept for nationwide public discussion. And the civic movement "Stop censorship!" could take part in it and maintain its position", according to the letter signed by Hanna Herman.
The President's Administration denied membership to a delegate from the civic movement Stop censorship! to the Public Humanitarian Council dealing with the public broadcasting project, so far as "Oleksander Martynenko, director of Interfax-Ukraine news agency, and Olga Chervakova, journalist for STB TV, have been already registered as members of the Council".
The reply has been published on the website of the Ukrainian president, in a recently launched section "We answer to journalists' letter of inquiries".
The President's Administration's first public reply was to the letter signed by the mass media spokespersons over the reasons of denial to organize the trip for the press to the residence of the president of Ukraine. Earlier, the presidential office issued seven official replies to the letters of inquiry: from Ukrayinska Pravda online edition as to the income declaration of the head of state, as to accreditation of the journalist Serhiy Leshchenko for the meeting of the head of state with National Trade Unions spokespersons, as to ensuring activity of the head of the President of Ukraine, as to working visit of the head of state to the Hellenic Republic, as to the joint-stock partnerships which had been founded by the President Yanukovich, as to some specific data from the income declaration of the President of Ukraine, as to payment of indemnity to the Chizhikov's spouse.
